The landscape that shapes us.
We live and work along the forest fringes of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, one of the most biodiverse ecosystems in the world, and home to the largest population of Asian elephants. We belong to a land where these elephants roam, reminding us daily of what it means to share space with other beings.
The Elephant People
We are a team of artists, carvers, storytellers, craftsmen, naturalists, researchers. Together, we build products grounded in ecological knowledge and cultural connection.

Our journey
The work that started it all
Our story began with The Real Elephant Collective, where for ten years we created life-size Lantana elephants—each one honouring a real wild elephant from the Nilgiris.
A Moment of Reflection
As these elephants travelled and connected with people, we began asking: How do we share more of these stories? How do we make our work more accessible, more affordable, and part of everyday life?
Crafting a new direction
The Elephant People grew from this search for deeper connection.
Today, we craft forest-inspired products that celebrate the diverse flora and fauna that live alongside elephants, bringing the magic of these landscapes into people’s homes.
Turning a problem into a possibility
Lantana and Senna are transforming the Nilgiri landscape.
When they take over, native grasses vanish—and with them, food for elephants and other herbivores.
We turn this challenge into opportunity: removing invasives, restoring grasslands, and reimagining the wood into meaningful, handmade pieces.
